Hello Subscriber
In this first issue of May, we introduce the newly designed Logging-on website. It has been modernised to provide a fresh look with easy navigation. It also allows Logging-on to introduce new features in the future, including our integration with our social media platforms – which will be receiving additional focus. Logging-on’s aim is “getting new and relevant information to the user as quickly as possible”. This “user” is someone intimately involved in the fields of logging, timber/biomass transport and forest roads, across the globe. Logging-on has just under 10,000 email subscribers spread out across the globe, with over 40,000 unique visits to our website each month. We partner with a limited number of key advertisers at Logging-on; ensuring that they receive maximum exposure to you the reader, without distracting you with excessive advertising banners.
In this issue, we bring valuable management information on how to manage and maintain the turbochargers found on modern logging machines. A Tigercat expert provides technical advice to ensure that this vital component has maximum service life with limited downtime. We also bring interesting information on technologies that are either emerging, or becoming mainstream, on construction sites to improve safety. Most of these have a direct possible application on our logging sites. Moving to new products, John Deere has now introduced the Waratah TimberRite H16 control system onto the tracked machines that carry Waratah 600 series attachments. Cat has extensively redesigned their articulated trucks, with large technological improvements to the operator cab. Finally, we examine a new function in MaxiXplorer that allows for improved functioning and transmitting of work site information.
