Komatsu Forest indicate that the head is robust enough to deal with hardwood debarking. Some of the design features to allow this include a strengthened frame, saw unit, brackets and hydraulics. The C202E can be customised according to customer needs. Examples of this include being able to fit the head with a drive, saw bar and chain for a .404 inch pitch, selecting a vertical knife with a sensor to detect crookedness in trees, and choosing a feed system if debarking does not take place.
The head weighs in from 2,010 kg (4,400 lb). It has a recommended maximum tree size of 450 mm (18 in) and a maximum feed roller opening of 650 mm (25 in). The recommended DBH range of the head is from 200 to 375 mm (8 to 15 in), although it has a possible DBH range of 75 to 450 mm (3 to 18 in). Four delimbing knives and steel feed rollers are used for debranching and debarking. The maximum feed-rate when debarking is 6 m/sec (20 ft/sec), and 4.5 m/sec (15 ft/sec) when not debarking. An 88 cm (35 in) saw bar is used. Source: www.komatsuforest.com
