Coming soon - Sneak preview of the Tigercat 880 Logger

Is it a loader, is it a shovel logger, is it a processor? Yes, it can be all three!

Tigercat has released a preview of its new purpose-built, multiple-use logging carrier. It can be configured for multiple uses, such as those mentioned above. Some of the highlights of this new carrier will include a proven, powerful Cummins engine (QSL9) that meets Tier III emission requirements and operates at low speeds for longer life and lower fuel consumption. The 880 will have a high capacity cooling system with automatic variable fan speed for good fuel consumption, and a reversing cycle to clean the heat exchangers. The twin swing drive system will provide high swing torque with reduced gear tooth loads.

An energy recovery swing system with a close loop drive, will feed power back to the engine when the swing decelerates. This will reduce fuel consumption and recover energy for other machine functions. The swing system will also have a dedicated hydraulic system for optimal boom performance. Other features will include excellent service access, with power operated side engine enclosures that serve as a service platform when open. There is full access to both sides of the engine and easy access to all major components and service areas.

Cab ergonomics has not been forgotten, with features such as rear cab entry, large storage space, full length front windows, floor windows allowing clear site of the tracks and a heavy duty air-ride suspension seat. Tigercat’s reputation for producing robust machines has not been overlooked, with a durable upper assembly and heavy duty forestry undercarriage. Some of the specifications of the 880 are as follows, while the remainder can be accessed on the Tigercat website.

Power 224 kW (300 hp) @ 1800 rpm
Weight (less attachments) 40,225 kg (88,500 lb)
Fuel capacity  1,300 l (343 US gal)
Rotating upper assembly 6.7 rpm, 360 deg continuous drive
