Tigercat has replaced the 250D loader with the new and improved 250E model.
Tigercat 250 series loaders are a staple on southern US landings for tasks such as delimbing, slashing, merchandising and loading trucks. Among other improvements, the latest 250 series iteration has an improved operator's cab, greater swing torque, and a new boom system.
On account of the increased swing torque, the boom system has been strengthened to handle the increased lateral forces now available to the operator for tough pull-through delimbing applications. The boom cylinders are cushioned at the end of stroke for smoother boom operation. A through-tip yoke routes hydraulic hoses to the grapple through the end of the boom for increased hose protection.
The new operator’s station is more roomy with 16% greater internal volume, enhancing leg room and adding width. The joysticks and switches are mounted on the armrests within comfortable reach. An improved climate control system allows the operator to set the desired temperature for a more comfortable and temperature-consistent working environment. Climate controlled cupholders keep drinks hot or cold for longer. Dedicated in-cabin storage areas include a space for a full size Tigercat insulated lunchbox.
Operator visibility has been improved with larger front and side windows. The wiper motor, radio and touchscreen display control system have all been relocated for improved sightlines. A work light has been added to on the right side of the engine enclosure for better visibility to the delimber during early morning and low light operating conditions. The redesigned swing motor cover further improves the operator’s line of sight to the work area. The cover has integrated storage for tools and grease. The DEF tank fill cap has been repositioned lower on the machine for added ease of access and safety. The 250E is also equipped with an electric pump hydraulic oil fill system. These added conveniences enhance the operator experience and make daily maintenance routines more efficient. Source
Demand for Kesla Oyj's products has not recovered as anticipated due to ongoing market uncertainty.
As a result, Kesla Oyj's sale, and consequently the order volume and workload at its factories, remain at a low level. Given these factors, Kesla Oyj is planning to adjust its operations to align with current demand and existing orders. The company will begin change negotiations, which may lead to furloughs of production personnel for up to 90 days or, in some cases, until further notice.
Additionally, Kesla Oyj will examine the reorganization of its business areas during the change negotiations to enhance its customer interface organization, customer processes, and the quality of customer experience. This would involve utilizing customer-facing personnel more effectively and flexibly in selected markets. These plans are not primarily expected to reduce the number of employees. Instead, they may lead to potential adjustments in the roles and/or essential terms of employment for employees working within the customer interface or associated with this business area. Should any role or job function be discontinued due to changes in the organizational model, Kesla Oyj will aim to work cooperatively with affected employees to find suitable alternative roles within the company.
The initial stage of the change negotiations will involve Kesla Oyj's entire staff and all personnel groups. The negotiations are expected to last up to six weeks. Source
Read MoreBusy traffic situations pose daily safety risks to vulnerable road users.
Volvo Trucks continuously develops its active safety systems to protect vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians, all with the purpose of taking steps towards the company’s long-term vision of zero accident involving Volvo trucks.
The latest example is Volvo’s Active Side Collision Avoidance Support, where the key word is active. This is an evolution of an existing safety system, with the active brake function being added. Using radar sensors to detect approaching cyclists, the system can warn the driver and if necessary, it can now also actively brake the truck to avoid a collision with cyclists when turning the truck towards the passenger side.
The Active Side Collision Avoidance Support system will be available for customers to order as from November 2024 in the Volvo FH range, FM and FMX models in all markets globally.
The second system is Volvo Trucks’ next-generation Collision Warning with Emergency Brake. This system was first introduced in 2012 and has been continuously improved ever since. It uses both camera and radar sensors to monitor the traffic ahead of the truck and if a risk for a collision is detected, the system is designed to warn the driver, and if necessary, automatically brake to avoid or mitigate the collision.
With the latest improvements, this system can detect, warn and brake not only for other vehicles but also for pedestrians and cyclists. It has been certified to meet the new tougher European legislation for Advanced Emergency Brake Systems that doesn’t come into force until 2028. In addition, Volvo Trucks’ system even exceeds the coming regulation in terms of the traffic situations it is designed to cover. This autobrake system is standard equipment in Europe on all FH series, FM and FMX trucks as from 2025 and available as option globally. Source
