Logging-on’s second issue of February is the celebratory issue! We join both Ponsse and John Deere celebrating milestones regarding machine production. Ponsse has produced their 14,000th forest machine and John Deere has produced their 5,000th swing machine. But first we examine the new 890 swing machine from Tigercat. It is now the largest machine in their forest line-up and is designed for the most demanding of applications. Loggers around the globe were surprised to hear of the acquisition of TimberPro by Komatsu America. We wait to see what Komatsu has in store for these machines which have always been carefully assembled under the watchful eye of the Crawford family. Finally, we feature another article about the use of virtual reality in the forest engineering context. Cat has produced a safety training programme that uses VR to improve the safety of road construction sites.
