Trelleborg describes the tyres as self-cleaning, high traction and track-compatible.
The new design includes Trelleborgs ProgressiveTraction technology and inter-lug terraces. ProgressiveTraction was developed to increase tyre efficiency and performance based on the action of a double lug. As the tyre operates on different soils, the double lug progressively releases higher traction when required. The double lug also provides the tyre with better floatation capability, which allows an even pressure distribution over the extra wide footprint and results in less pressure on forest soils. The inter-lug terraces have been integrated into the new tread design. This helps prevent the tread from clogging to ensure a self-cleaning tyre for maximum traction.
The tyres have been made from a newly developed rubber compound and have improved track compatibility. The new Twin Forestry tyre range consists of the T440 and T480 series, complemented by the existing skidder range, T418. The application of the tyres is as follows:
- Twin Forestry T440: Maximum traction for clay, mud, ice and snow. It uses Trelleborgs Progressive Traction technology for better grip and self-cleaning with reduced soil impact. It features a new lug design with a heavier shoulder, lug heads and transverse edges for track fitment.
- Twin Forestry T480: Allows good fitment of tracks. It has transverse grooves and a wide flat tyre profile for good compatibility with tracks. The tread design has inter-lug terraces for self-cleaning and good pulling power. The large contact area with low ground pressure results in less soil impacts.
