Tigercat educates us on Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

The latest issue of Tigercats “Between the Branches” magazine provides useful information on the essentials of what loggers need to know about DEF.

New engine technologies have been employed in order to meet strict American and European engine emission requirements. All new logging machines in the affected countries need to use DEF in order to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. The DEF is injected into the exhaust stream, where it is broken down into ammonia and reacts with nitrogen to form water and harmless nitrogen gas.
