The Ponsse Scorpion receives its second major award

The award was made in recognition of the innovative features of the new harvester.

The award, titled “Quality Innovation of the Year”, was signed by the President of Finland and presented by the speaker of the Swedish parliament. The competition is organised by Laatukkeskus Excellence Finland, and participants are from Estonia, Sweden, Latvia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Finland. The Ponsse Scorpion was introduced during Elmia 2013 and serial production began at the beginning of this year.

The structure of the new Scorpion harvester provided the basis for the award, which resulted in improvements in driver ergonomics and machine productivity. Many of the major factors which hinder the operator during their work have been eliminated. An example is the repositioning of the boom which provides clear site of the work area for the operator. Environmental issues were also addressed through longer maintenance intervals, a new low-emission engine and low ground pressures through good weight distribution onto all eight wheels. Ponsse has five patents pending for the Scorpion.

In October 2013, Ponsse received the Viva Automation prize for the development related to the stabilisation and levelling system of the Scorpion. This prize is awarded for a significant, innovative solution in the automation field. Source: http://www.ponsse.com/
