SP secures large harvester head order to Brazil

SP will be delivering 30 harvester heads for operation in plantation eucalypts in Brazil.

The order, which is SP’s largest ever single order, consists of SP 591 LX G2 harvester heads, which are specifically designed for harvesting and debarking of plantation grown eucalypts. SP received the order through their Brazilian dealer, Tracbel, who also represent other well-known brands such as Tigercat and Volvo. The company purchasing the harvester heads is Suzano Papel e Celulose, which is one of the largest producers of eucalypt pulp in the world.

The head will be installed on Tigercat H845C carriers, and will be used to supply Suzano’s new pulp mill in the northern state of Maranhao. The mill, which is expected to start production towards the end of 2013, will require a monthly supply of 500,000 m3 of logs by 2013, and will produce 1.5 million tonnes of pulp per year.
