SP Maskiner have developed a completely new harvester head

The SP 661 LF harvester head has the optimum characteristics for final felling.

The SP 661 LF is a head with a design based on SP’s Low Friction principle, for minimal friction and maximum productivity. The head can be installed on both wheel-based carriers as well as on excavators and caterpillar forestry machines. The head has been developed to provide good quality and productivity for all types of final felling. During final felling of thick stems, the feed rollers and SP Maskiner's patented system, LogHold, provide optimal capacity and production. During final felling of thin stems, the flexible design uses multi-tree processing components for good production. Much design thought has gone into ensuring that the internal components are well protected and that the head has strong construction for reduced downtime and a maximum useful life.

The SP 661 LF is best suited to trees with diameters of 18 to 45 cm (7 – 18”), but can, thanks to the LF principle also work efficiently with larger tree sizes. It has a minimum pump capacity requirement of 200 l/min and a recommended working pressure of 26 to 30 MPa. Proportional clamping pressure of the feed rollers in relation to the trunk diameter and individual settings for varied species permit good performance. The feed rollers have maximum opening of 630 mm (24.8 in) and a feed speed of 0 to 6 m/s. The maximum cutting diameter is 700 mm (27.6 in). It has 4 movable knives and 1 fixed knife. The delimbing diameter for the lower knife is a maximum of 510 mm (20 in) and the minimum delimbing diameter is 30 mm (1.2 in). The SP 661 LF has a minimum closed width of 1360 mm (53.5 in) and an open width of 1820 mm (71.6 in). It is 1730 mm (68 in) tall and weighs 1450kg (3,200 lb). Source
