SP introduces the new 591 LX G3 for eucalypt debarking

This is the third generation 591 LX head, which was first launched in 2007.

Since the first version launch in 2007, the SP 591 LX has gained a good reputation for its handling capabilities of crooked and difficult to debark species of eucalypts and acacia. It has become a popular choice for harvesting plantation hardwood in difficult conditions and markets in the southern hemisphere. The SP 591 LX G3 can be fitted to a variety of different carriers such as conventional forest machines or excavators. The head has an optimum tree size diameter of 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14 in) and a maximum recommended tree size diameter of 40 cm (16 in). The G3 has the following improvements and features:

  • Improved protection of the centre feed motors for improved reliability and service access.
  • Better hose routing to the centre feed motors for increased uptime and a longer useful life.
  • Improved protection on the knife cylinder for better reliability and a longer life on the seal kit.
  • An optional separate length measuring unit for operations requiring highly accurate length measuring.
  • An A-frame for improved handling of difficult to debark and poor tree form Acacia and Eucalyptus.
  • An E-frame for improved handling of Eucalyptus species with good tree form.
