The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) produces a series of safety manuals and videos.
The AEM is an excellent source of training and general awareness information. The information deals with the entire construction industry, but there is specific information relevant to forestry and road construction. The manuals are all available in English, and some have been translated into Spanish. The safety manuals are aimed at the operator and the person carrying out maintenance on the machine. Topics included range from machine inspections prior to operating to safe maintenance tips. There are safety manuals for feller bunchers, forwarders, knuckleboom log loaders, skidders, agricultural tractors, backhoe loaders, crawler tractors, graders, excavators, agricultural mowers, articulated dump trucks, wheeled loaders and compaction equipment. Each manual only costs US $ 2.50.
The selection for the safety videos is smaller, and the videos relevant to forest engineering include the grader, repair technician and compaction equipment; although the other may have specific uses for certain loggers or roading managers. The videos are designed to supplement the manuals. They include the steps required to operate the machine safely. The videos are generally used for in-house training programmes and are aimed at the operator. The videos cost approximately US $ 50.00. Source: http://shop.aem.org
