Rottne produces a large prototype wheeled harvester for clearcut operations

The Rottne H21D is big stable harvester available in 6 and 8 wheel options.

The new harvester has been designed for harvesting large trees. It has a strong crane with high lifting and slewing torque. A new hydrostatic transmission system provides good tractive force, and this is powered by a Tier 4 final engine. The upgraded EGS706 harvester head is powered by two pumps, and contains a new bucking system with improved software that meets StanForD 2010 requirements. The cab is swivelling and levelling, with a new foundation that provides softer turning movements and increased angles of rotation. Some of the technical information is as follows:

  • Engine: John Deere 6090 PowerTech Tier 4. Power output at 1700 rpm is 227 kW (305 hp). Torque at 1600 rpm is 1351 Nm (996 lbft).
  • Transmission: Tractive force of 230 kN (51700 lbf).
Stronger transmission with 3 gear steps.
  • Hydraulic system: Load sensing hydraulic system with separate pumps for loader, head and transmission.
  • Crane: Lifting torque 280 kNm (206500 lbft). Slewing torque 62.4 kNm (46000 lbft). A tilting angle out of 21 degrees, tilting angle in of 20 degrees and a reach of 10 m (33 ft).
  • Cab: Upgraded levelling and swivelling. A new swivelling foundation with a 90 degree turning angle.
  • Head: An upgraded EGS706 with a more robust length measuring system. Diameter is measured using the upper delimbing knives.
  • Wheels: 8-wheeled machines use 750/45 x 30.5. 6-wheeled machines use 750/45 x 30.5 on the front and 710/70 x 34 at the rear.
  • Control systems: The machine control system is the Rottne D5 with 9 inch touch screen, and the tree optimisation system is a Rottne Forester with 15 inch touch screen.
