Ponsse release their new eight-wheeled harvester

The Ponsse Bear is the largest harvester in the Ponsse harvester range.

The eight wheeled Ponsse Bear was designed for large trees and demanding conditions. Besides receiving a facelift, Ponsse indicate that the new harvester focusses on efficiency, structural endurance and ease of maintenance and use. The cab has been designed with plenty of storage space, new ergonomic controls and good visibility for the operator. A six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz engine (260 kW / 350 hp at 1400 Nm) is used, which meets Stage IV emission standards. The new engine results in a better response to sudden power needs and improves fuel economy. Double-circuit hydraulics are used to supply just the correct amount of power to the head and crane.

There are changes to the crane models available for the Bear. The C6 sliding boom and C55 parallel cranes can be fitted, which will improve durability and flexibility of use. The positioning of components and service points, and the ease of maintenance, has also been improved based on customer feedback. New engine technology and improved hydraulics have allowed extending the service intervals from 600/1200 hours to 900/1800 hours. Serial production of the Ponsse Bear was started at the beginning of May. Source: www.ponsse.com/
