With prototype trials having been completed, the commercial version of FPDat is now available.
The FP Innovations Precision Forestry team has been testing the prototypes with different forestry companies over the last two years. The first commercial installations of the new FPDat were with Corner Brook Pulp and Paper, who purchased 30 FPDat units in June 2011. The FPDat onboard computer systems are used to record important production and performance data for forestry equipment.
FPDat now also offers machine operators an onboard navigation system and easy interaction with the system via a touch screen. The FPInnovations FPTrak Web portal will also make it possible to collect and manage data gathered by FPDat, and will allow various reports to be produced, and key performance indicators to be calculated.
During the past two years, FPInnovations has sold more than 75 FPDat systems across Canada. The FPInnovations Precision Forestry team will be initiating research that will quantify the benefits of using FPDat in harvesting equipment. Anyone interested in FPDat can access the FPSuite website for more information, prices and features.
