VTI investigates the cost benefits of using a 90 tonne log truck
The cost benefits of using a 90 tonne log truck compared with the conventional 60 tonne log truck in Sweden were studied. A theoretical 34% reduction in vehicle km was possible due to the 52% higher payload. The larger trucks were beneficial except where specific road and bridge restrictions resulted in the use of longer alternative routes.
