Biomass could make up two-thirds of the EU renewable energy production in 2020
An INFRES study has shown that for this to occur, biomass use will have to double between 2010 and 2020. They indicate that forests can be used more intensively, the agricultural sector can play a key role, and purposely grown energy crops can also contribute substantially. Improved logistics to harvest, store and transport biomass feedstocks will help create a market for biomass such as forestry residues, agricultural wood prunings, and energy crops.
