New thinning harvester from Nisula

Nisula will be launching their new N4 thinning harvester, along with their 425H and 425C heads, at FinnMetko in Finland.

The new 4-wheeled harvester is fitted with 600/65R34 Nokia Forest Rider tyres and is powered by an Agco Sisu Power (Finnish), 4.9 litre, supercharged and intercooled engine, that delivers 119 kW (160 hp) of power at 2000 rpm. The N4 makes use of hydrostatic-mechanical transmission with differential axle locks. Movement between felling sites is quick, with the N4 able to reach speeds of up to 45 km/hr (28 miles/hr). The front axle can oscillate approximately 12 degrees. The cab has large windows for excellent visibility, with the tops of trees and the ground right next to the cab being visible. A Nisula P895 parallel crane specifically designed for thinning is used. It has a reach of 10 m (33 ft), slewing force of 31 kNm, lifting force of 115 kNm and a lifting capacity of 660 kg (1,455 lb) at full reach. The Nisula NCU3 system is used to control the harvester head.

The standard harvesting head is the new 425H. It has additional delimbing knives which assist when handling larger trees. In order to debranch flush with the stem, the maximum processing diameter is 320 mm (12.6 in). An additional harvester head option for the N4 is the 425C. This is a multi-purpose harvester head for producing conventional roundwood or energy wood from the same site. Source: www.nisula.com
