New Products - Valmet 931 wheeled harvester

Valmet has recently introduced their new 931 wheeled harvester. The 931 is claimed to be more capable of handling denser forests on steeper and rougher terrain.

The 931 six wheeled harvester seems to fit between the 911.4 and the 941.1 harvesters in the Valmet range. Valmet has highlighted a whole range of features that should interest prospective buyers. These include a new engine using four valve technology that delivers 193 kW (259 hp), but delivers high torque at low engine revolutions (which keeps the fuel consumption in check). The harvester has a sturdier boom design that has greater lift capacity and reach. The 931 also has a new bogie, called the “Comfort Bogie), which improves traction, stability and manoeuvrability. Other features include a heavy duty rear axle, soft-sealed couplings to minimise oil leaks, new guarding for ladders and batteries and ergonomically superior cab.

The cab can fully rotate and is auto-levelling (as is the boom). The cab and boom can level up to 16 degrees to each side of the harvester, 20 degrees forward and 22 degrees backwards.

The 360.2, 365 and 370.2 harvester heads can all be attached to the harvester. With the Valmet 360.2 head (1,245 kg or 2,745 lb) it will use a boom with a 9.8 m (32 ft) reach and with the 370.2 head (1,470 kg or 3,241 lb) an 8.5 m (28 ft) reach.

The harvester weighs approximately 19,400 kg. The MaxiXplorer is the harvesters control system.

Valmet has a very useful webpage under the title of “Compare wheeled harvesters” which allows one to compare the full specifications of each of their wheeled harvesters against each other. This is very handy during equipment selection and is well worth a look. Source: www.komatsuforest.com
