New products - The LS-28 Log Splitter from Rotochopper makes light work of oversize logs

The log splitter is designed to process large diameter logs for mulch or the biomass market.

The LS-28 hydraulic loader attachment can be mounted on an excavator, skid steer, or any other handling equipment with auxiliary hydraulics. Unlike spiral-cone log splitters, the LS-28 can split through any part of the log, not just the centre. Therefore, very large diameter logs can be split through the outer grain, rather than through the denser heartwood. The length of the log is not a limitation, such as with hydraulic ram wood splitters. Any length of log can be split, and therefore logs do not need to be cut to length before splitting.

Grinder or chipper efficiency is improved by being able to process logs of optimal diameter. Splitting logs also allows a resource to be used that would previously have been considered too large. Split logs dry quicker, which can result in higher calorific values per mass of material when used for energy generation. Splitting logs could also result in lower horsepower grinders being required. This can reduce capital expenditure and fuel consumption. Source: www.rotochopper.com
