CBI has entered the full-tree processing market with a new, high production machine.
Continental Biomass Industries (CBI) already has portable grinders and chippers in their product line-up. They have now introduced the Magnum Force Disc Chipper 754 and the Flail 604 delimber/debarker. CBI’s aim was to manufacture an integrated, high-capacity chipping system for logging companies and contractors who want increased production, less downtime and lower operating costs. Each unit can be legally transported, and is designed to work together as one in the field.
The Magnum Force Flail 604 has four flail drums that have been engineered for high productivity debarking, while minimising fibre loss, chain wear and fuel consumption. The completely enclosed system has no exposed drive components, which effectively contains debris, reduces maintenance downtime and lowers the fire risk. The flail has full width, large diameter feed rollers, which ensure continuous, high production feed. Production rates are predicted to be in the region of 150 tons per hour. Other features of the flail unit are an extra-long hydraulic debris removal ram, and a large capacity Tigercat loader for high production feeding. The loader controls the flail and chipper from the cab.
The Disc Chipper 754 uses a four-knife, 75 inch (191 cm) disc chipper. It has a 26 inch (66 cm) feed opening. The chip discharge chute is remotely operated, camera monitored, and folds hydraulically for transport. Landing logistics are improved by placing the residue separator and bark pusher discharge on the opposite side of the chip discharge, allowing a trailer to park parallel to the machine while it is being loaded. The bark discharge system has been designed to eliminate carry over into the chipper, allowing high quality chips at high production levels. Chip sizes from 3/8 to one inch (0.95 to 2.5 cm) can be produced. The disc chipper moves the flail unit in the field.
