New logging products - New eucalypt harvester head from Log Max

The Log Max E6 has been specially designed for eucalypt harvesting.

This 1,514 kg (3,300 lb) harvester head is equipped with angled wheel arms and five custom built delimbing knives to ensure optimal debarking and high production. Log Max has designed the head to withstand the harsh operating conditions encountered when felling and processing eucalypt trees. These include a cast felling link and upper knife, and using modern welding techniques and high quality steel on the frame to minimise stress concentration and reduce weight. The frame has two wear plates that can be replaced to increase the useful life of the head.

The feed unit has two hydraulically driven Poclain MS08 radial piston motors, with a feed force of nearly 20 kN and feed speed of up to 5.8 metres per second (19 ft/second). Length measuring is carried using sensors in one of the feed rollers. A supporting debarking wheel is located in the centre of the frame.

The saw motor is positioned to minimise log splitting during cutting. The motor comes in three different options; Saw 98, Saw 98XL or Hultdins SuperCut 100. They can be fitted with either a 64 or 75 cm (25 or 29.5 in) saw bar with 10 or 15 mm (0.4 or 0.6 in) groove. Source: www.logmax.com
