New forwarder crane and grapple options from Tigercat

The new options are a major boost to the productivity of Tigercats powerful 1075B forwarder.

The crane and grapple were both designed and built by Tigercat, and it is clear that much thought has gone into the crane design. The F195T85 is a heavy duty crane that can lift 20 to 30 % heavier loads and has 22 to 66% more slew torque than competing cranes in the market. This is the only crane that can use a 0.53 m2 (5.7 ft2) grapple, allowing it to be very effective in small diameter logs. The crane geometry provides for good grapple clearance above the load. One of the key new features is a standard end-of-position dampening sensor on the stick and main boom which prevents impact loads. A tapered roller bearing is used in the slew base that will last the life of the machine, which is an improvement over the conventional plain bearings and spherical rollers used with most cranes. Tigercat also indicate that it is the only crane that swivels on the pillar hoses, significantly extending hose life, and uses thick-walled bushings at all pivots and a cushioned telescopic cylinder.

The new 430 and 530 series Tigercat grapples can be used with the crane. They have a 0.43 m2 (4.6 ft2) and 0.53 m2 (5.7 ft2) capacity respectively. They use thick-walled bushings for durability, and the link has a new hose routing design for improved hose protection. A heavy duty swing dampener has been designed for the new grapples. Extensive testing under demanding eucalypt sawtimber (5 m / 16.4 ft logs) and pulpwood (7 m / 23 ft logs) operating conditions in Uruguay have demonstrated its potential.
