New features and enhancements for John Deere wheeled harvesters

John Deere’s 1270E and 1470 E harvesters are equipped with new engines that meet EPA Tier 3 emission standards.

The harvesters are now equipped with the John Deere 6090 PowerTech Plus turbo-charged 6-cylinder 9.0 litre engine. One of the main new features on both harvesters is a twin-pump hydraulic system that uses two open-loop pumps; one for the harvester head and transmission control, and the other for the head and boom control. This allows efficient simultaneous steering and increased boom and tree processing control. A new power management feature anticipates engine load and delivers the appropriate power surge for improved fuel economy and productivity. The TimberMatic H12 control system is used. It ensures that the hydraulics provide smooth boom control. Other features are as follows:

  • A cab with 160 degree turning radius and a levelling system which provides excellent visibility and productivity.
  • The CH7 parallel harvester boom on the 1270E, available with 8.6, 10.0 or 11.7 m (28.2, 32.8 or 38.4 ft) reach options.
  • The CH8 boom on the 1470E, which can handle logs up to 11.0 m (36.1 ft) away.
