New bioenergy product - Mecanil XG220 multi-purpose felling grapple

Mecanil has introduced a multi-function grapple with a saw and shear for felling.

The shear (cutting knife) is used to fell very small trees, while the saw is used for larger trees. The XG220 is a combination of two of Mecanil’s existing products, namely the EG250 energy-wood felling head and the SG220 saw-grapple. The XG220 also works well as a conventional loading grapple.

Mecanil has designed the grapple to be robust, yet lightweight and requiring little oil flow. Installation is simple due to the limited hydraulic requirements. It can be installed on harvesters, forwarders and excavators.

The XG220 is also available with a self-powered wireless remote control. The patented remote control does not require battery changes, as it is charged when the felling head is in use. This further simplifies installation of the felling grapple, as no electrical wires need to be installed on the crane. The grapple is available in four models:

  • XG220 – with cable control and without a stem collecting unit
  • XG220 A – with cable control and with a stem collecting unit
  • XG220 RC – with remote control and without a stem collecting unit
  • XG220 ARC – with remote control and with a stem collecting unit.
