The 470 mulcher is powered by Tigercats FPT C87 Tier 4i 245 kW (328 hp) engine. It has been designed to be narrow and agile, with extremely low ground pressure (20.9 kPa / 3 psi). It is well suited to rough terrain and soft underfoot conditions. It is also expected to be popular in Right of Way (ROW) work, pipeline maintenance and oil and gas exploration projects.
To handle the demanding nature of the work, the 470 is equipped with a high capacity cooling system with a variable speed fan and automatic reversing cycle, a dedicated attachment pump, and a closed loop track drive system. It has a heavy duty steel engine enclosure and pre-cleaner guard that eliminates the requirement for a rear canopy. All structural components have been designed for full time use in demanding forestry applications.
