More logging research results brought to us by the CJFE

The CJFE provides free access to dedicated forest engineering information. Many articles in the September 2012 issue focus in on biomass harvesting.

The September 2012 edition (Vol. 33, Issue 2) of the Croatian Journal of Forest Engineering follows hot on the heels of the June 2012 edition. This edition contains a spread of articles that cover the entire forest engineering value chain. As with the October 1 issue of Logging-on, we have included some of the more applied research articles below, but it is worthwhile to access the index to obtain an overview of all the articles. Selected article titles are as follows:

  • Development of a multi-criteria decision support tool for energy wood supply management (Kuhmaier and Stampfer).
  • Truck transportation and chipping productivity of whole trees and delimber energy wood in Finland (Laitila and Vaatainen).
  • Utilisation, cost and landowner return from whole-tree chipping young Loblolly pine thinnings (Smidt and McDaniel).
  • Predicting and controlling moisture content to optimise forest biomass logistics (Acuna, Antilla, Sikanen, Prinz and Asikainen).
  • Estimating the use of brush mats in reducing forwarder peak loads and surface contact pressures (Labelle and Jaeger). This article is covered in more detail in this issue.
