Meet Luke, the new name in Finnish forestry research

The Natural Resources Institute of Finland (Luke) has commenced research operations.

The name Luke is derived from Luonnonvarakeskus, translated to “Natural Resources Centre”. Luke comprises the state research institutes of MTT Agrifood Research Finland, the Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla), the Finnish Game and Fisheries Research Institute, and the statistical services of the Information Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. This new research and expert organisation has the task of promoting competitive business activities based on the sustainable use of renewable natural resource management.

The goal of Luke is to reinforce research and expertise in food and renewable natural resources that are required to build the new bioeconomy of the future.
