Logging equipment - New forwarders from Komatsu Forest

The Komatsu 855 and 865 are two brand new mid-range forwarders with new engines, transmissions and cabs.

The forwarders can be applied in applications ranging from thinning to clearfelling. The 855 has a load capacity of 13 tonnes and the 865 a load capacity of 15 tonnes. Both forwarders are equipped with new E3 Power engines that produce more power with lower fuel consumption. The new engines use Selective Catalytic Reduction to reduce engine emissions.

Both the Komatsu 855 and 865 forwarders have new hydrostatic transmission systems that adapt itself to the load, slope and obstacles. Traction is optimised through the interaction of the engine and hydrostatic drive, resulting in faster travel speeds, even when loaded.

Operator ergonomics was a key design consideration. Both forwarders have new spacious cabs with improved sideways and upwards visibility, enabling easier crane movements. The cab is quiet and the seat has been developed specifically for logging conditions. The forwarders are also equipped with Komatsu’s Comfort Bogie, which improves mobility and stability. Both forwarders are fitted with the MaxiXplorer 3.0 control system. The table below provides some of the key specifications.
