Komatsu to acquire LogMax

Komatsu believes that the LogMax range will complement its existing range with regard to different types of harvesting and tree sizes.

The acquisition will include LogMax AB, the Sweden-based manufacturer of forest machine attachments, and LogMax Inc., LogMax AB’s US sales company. Komatsu is planning to have the acquisition completed by the end of November 2012. The acquisition still needs to be approved by relevant authorities. Komatsu regards the LogMax range of harvester heads “mutually complimentary in types of harvesting and tree sizes”. Komatsu sees the acquisition as an opportunity to increase sales of forestry machines due to the expanding range of harvester heads.

LogMax was established in 1980 and has its head office in Grangarde, Sweden. It currently employs 72 people. Komatsu, which is the second largest manufacturer of construction equipment in the world, has indicated that it has no intentions to restructure LogMax and will also not change the current relationships with LogMax distributors.

LogMax International Holdings also owns Eco Log. Eco Log is not affected by the sale and will remain as an independent operation under current management. LogMax AB will continue to supply harvester heads to the Eco Log group. Stig Linderholm will remain as the majority owner of EcoLog. Source: www.eco-log.se , www.logmax.com  and www.komatsuforest.com
