Komatsu Forest's releases their new 875 forwarder

The new model is designed for higher load capacity extraction during final logging.

The forwarder has a 16 ton load capacity class. It has received improvements from its chassis and powertrain to its crane and bunk. Increased productivity is achieved due to a larger bunk. The forwarder uses FlexBunk, where the height and width can be adjusted from the cab. Other factors that assist with the productivity improvement include a new powertrain with higher engine power, torque and traction, terrain mobility provided by the Komatsu Comfort Bogie with portals, a boat-shaped chassis with high-tensile steel underneath, and a front blade that can be raised higher than before. A transmission which optimizes power and speed based on terrain, load, engine power output and whether you are also using the crane, has been supplemented with a larger hydrostatic pump and hydrostatic motor for improved handling.

The 875 has a new crane with a gross lifting torque of 145 kNm and a gross slewing torque of 38 kNm. When combined with the improved hydraulic system, the larger crane valve and hydraulic pump improves crane operation. The crane has a reach of 8.5 m (27.0 ft). The forwarder has new axles and a new articulated joint and frame system to improve durability. The articulated joint and drive shaft are fitted with a new type of bearing seat seal for a long service life and lower service costs.

The forwarder has larger batteries to ensure that the machine starts on very cold mornings. It has also been given a new look and part of the benefits of this are improved servicing. The new rounded engine hood is electrically powered and can be used as a service platform in the open position. All filters are located beneath the hood for easy access. There are eight service hatches in the chassis. There are easily accessible inspection points for oil in the engine, differentials and gearbox.

The cab has seen improvements with a FlexGate patented full height gate, windows secured with bolts for straightforward replacement of worn windows, a start button, central locking with a remote control key, additional work lights and MediaZone. The fully-integrated crane scale, Protec Scale, enables the load to be weighed automatically for production follow-ups and operational monitoring.
