Komatsu Forests releases a new head for demanding conditions

The C202 harvesting head for larger trees has been designed for high reliability.

The new head features a number of designs that are intended to improve its durability. These include a sealed bearing unit, a redesigned clamp for the main saw and a redesigned tensioner for the top saw, which has resulted in better stabilising of chain tensioning and simplified service. Increased service life has also been achieved by using expander pins on the feed roller arms and delimbing knives. The hydraulics has also received attention with the use of hard-wear piston rods and the knife cylinder has a new design, resulting in increased durability. The head also has a dampening function when tilting upwards to reduce loads on the heads frame and felling link.

The C202 also has many optional extras, allowing users to tailor the head to their application. These include: alternative saw equipment when mounted onto forestry excavators, and the head can be equipped with two alternative vertical knives, being either a straight knife for normal delimbing or a knife with a skid tip for more demanding delimbing, such as processing crooked stems. Some of the key specifications are included in the table below. Source: www.komatsuforest.com
