The machines have new cabs and control systems.
The purpose-built XT-3 machines consist of the XT430-3 (non-levelling), XT430L-3, XT445L-3 and the larger new XT460L-3 (levelling) models, which range in weight from 27,800 kg (61,300 lb) to 32,700 kg (72,000 lb). Each model uses a Cummins 8.3 litre engine that produces 224 kW (300 hp) of peak power and 79.1 k/Nm (58,400 lb-ft) of swing torque. The machines feature a totally new cab. The changes include a sloped roofline that increases headroom above and forward of the seat, and reduces debris build-up. The front window is 10 % larger, the side windows provide up to 90 % greater viewing depth, and the skylight is 60 % larger. 11 LED lights give two to three times more illumination in all directions. The cab is also more specious and quieter. It is pressurized with fresh, filtered air for the new automatic heating, cooling and defrosting system. New internal storage areas, such as the cooler lunch box and thermos bottle, are also provided.
The XT-3 uses the new IQAN-MD4 programmable digital control system. All gauges and warning lights are now prominently displayed on a highly visible and durable 18 cm (7 in) LED colour touchscreen monitor. Individual preference settings for multiple operators can be accommodated. The system records harvest data and provides diagnostic reports. Additional improvements have been made to the undercarriage and hydraulic components. The XT-3 has been designed to be used with disc saws, bar saws and processing head attachments. Maintenance access has been improved using three rugged swing-out doors. Source: http://www.komatsuamerica.com/our-company/press-releases/2015-01-20-xt-3
