Komatsu Forest introduces new crane scales for their forwarders

The ProTec scale uses modern scale sensor technology and wireless data transfers.

The crane scale has a new scale link with measurement equipment built into the pins that attach the link to the crane nose. This enables Komatsu Forest to integrate the new crane scale with the ProTec concept, where the hose routing from the crane nose to the rotator is protected, resulting in reduced downtime. The scale link has a low build height, allowing good clearance above the supports. Komatsu Forest indicate that the link is also available as a modern multi disc brake version that has good dampening properties. The scale has a position sensor in the slewing motor housing. This enables the weight measurement to be taken when the weight is above the supports, where deviations are the smallest.

The ProTec scale is integrated with the MaxiXplorer control system. The benefit is that the operator can select the desired product (e.g. saw timber or pulpwood) from the control panel, and weigh each product separately. The weight and volume information is then displayed directly on the screen. This information becomes part of the production reports. All data is transferred wirelessly from the scale link to the cab module. The system in the scale link is energy efficient and is powered by a high-capacity battery, resulting in increased intervals between battery charges. The operator is also notified when the battery needs charging. Source: www.komatsuforest.com
