Komatsu Forest introduces a new crane option for the 895 forwarder

This gives the forwarder a reach of 10m.

This makes the forwarder able to more effectively carry out operations such as collecting logging residue when the timber is further from the forwarder. The 895 is Komatsu’s largest forwarder model, and when combined with the Combi crane, it has increased lifting force and good reach. The version with a single telescopic boom has a reach of 8.5 m, while the double telescopic boom offers a full 10 m reach. The crane has high lifting torque to also give good strength at the full 10-metre reach. This allows full grab loads of logging residues to be collected, even when the residue is located at full crane reach from the forwarder.

The new crane has improved and protected hose routing, and is equipped with both Komatsu Forest’s Combi outer boom and ProTec link. The Combi outer boom has a completely new design with advantages such as adjustable sliding blocks to prevent play between boom sections, hydraulic limit damping at both cylinder end positions and individual bearings for all hose and chain wheels on the same axle. The Combi outer boom also has individual adjustment of all hose tensioners. Source: http://www.komatsuforest.com/default.aspx?id=1848&newsid=142373
