JCB sets land-speed record for backhoe loaders

The JCB GT backhoe loader was crowned fastest digger on earth by Guinness World Records.

The JCB GT was originally designed to perform high-speed wheelies at drag racing events in the USA. The record breaking achievement took place close to Sydney, Australia. The JCB set the record and obtained the official title of “fastest backhoe loader in the world”, by achieving a speed of 116.82 km per hour (72.58 mph). This backhoe loader has a loader and digger end made completely from aluminium. It has a lightweight steel chassis and a JCB Fastrac rear axle. The original JCB GT was made of fibreglass and aluminium, and powered by a V8 Chevvy engine. JCB have been the world’s best-selling backhoe loader for 14 consecutive years, and has made more than half a million backhoes in the 61 years since the machine was invented in 1963.  Source: www.jcb.co.uk
