MAN demonstrates how fuel consumption can be reduced with a fuel saving package.
The TGX EfficientLine does not use any complex technology to achieve reduced fuel consumption. Instead, savings are achieved through a range of standard equipment used with the truck and semi-trailer combination. The EfficientLine is available with engines from 400 to 480 hp. The equipment used is as follows:
- MAN TipMatic – a 12 speed shift system changes gears optimally in automatic mode to reduce diesel consumption.
- Tyre pressure monitoring system – checks tyre pressure to make sure it is optimal. This not only improves fuel consumption, but also reduces the number of punctures.
- Aero package and chassis side panels – improves aerodynamic drag (could be applicable to chip or biomass trucks).
- Air pressure management – switches the air compressor off automatically if it is not required.
- Energy tyres – the construction of the energy tyres reduces deformation which reduces rolling resistance.
- Daytime running lights – requires only a quarter of the power of dipper halogen lights.
- Speed limitation to 85 km/hr – setting the speed limiter to 85 km/hr (53 miles/hr) instead of 89 km/hr (55 miles/hr) reduces rolling resistance by approximately 10%.
- 120 A generator – a new generator with 10 A more current and 4% higher efficiency.
- Lightweight equipment – payload is increased by up to 500 kg (1,100 lb) with lighter compressed air tanks, diesel tanks and aluminium rims.
- MAN ProfiDrive voucher – for driver training which includes practical and theoretical elements.
