Eco Log releases their new 8-wheeled harvester

The 688E has been designed for operating on steep slopes and sensitive sites with minimal ground pressure.

The harvester is powered by a 210 kW (286 hp) Volvo Penta D8 872, 7.7 litre engine. The engine is compliant to Tier 4f and Euro Stage 4 emission standards. The driver cabin can rotate 350 degrees, which provides a large view of the work area. The Eco Log 688E has improved stability in the middle of the harvester with better steering of the tilt plate. This gives good mobility and stability. Three turntable motors are available to suite specific conditions.  The cabin can tilt sideways to approximately 16 degrees, and can tilt 19 degrees to the front and 12 degrees to the rear. A new hood improves service accessibility.

The harvester weighs 23,000 kg (51,000 lb). It makes use of a hydrostatic mechanical transmission, achieving a tractive effort of 200 kN and a maximum speed of 20 km/hr (12 mi/hr). It has a 460 litre (101 gal) fuel tank and a 200 litre (44 gal) hydraulic tank. It comes standard with 700/45 - 26.5’’ tyres, but as an option can be fitted with 800/40 - 26.5’’ tyres. Crane options include 9, 10, 11 and 11.5 m (30, 33, 36 and 38 ft) reach. It has 20 standard LED lights, with xenon lights being optional. It can be fitted with the Log Max 5000, Log Max 6000 or Log Max 7000 harvester heads. Source
