The new RR30 root rake is designed for tough conditions.
CBI indicates that the root rake “grubs, pulls, backfills, rakes and loads”! Judging by the size and robust design, it does appear as though this attachment will handle any conditions thrown at it. It has six large primary rake tines to clear the roots away from the ground, and six secondary back-rake tines that flatten the surface area during a reverse stroke. The rake has a massive opening for grabbing a large volume of material. It then uses the rake tines to screen the roots and stumps of rocks and soil prior to loading, resulting in cleaner material delivered to the customer.
The RR30 weighs 3.5 tonnes (7,500 lb) and should be fitted onto a 29 to 41 tonne (65,000 to 90,000 lb) excavator. The rake has a dual action which uses the excavators bucket curl function to power the lower jaw, which allows the material to be screened and roots to be raked with the same “feel” as the digging function with a standard bucket. An auxiliary cylinder is used to open and close the grapple. Source: www.cbi-inc.com
