Features include Tier 4 final engines, a new cab and hydraulic refinements.
The F2 series includes the 416F2, 420F2, 430F2 and a new model to the range, the 415F2. The 420F2 and the 430F2 continue to be available with both single-tilt and integrated tool carrier (IT) front linkage. Four-wheel drive is standard for the 430F2, but is also available for the other models. The 415F2 uses a Cat C3.4B engine that produces 51 kW (68 hp) of power, while the other three backhoes in the range use Cat C4.4 ACERT engines, which have power ratings of 65 kW (87 hp) for the 416F2, 69 kW (93 hp) for the 420F2, and 80 kW (108 hp) for the 430F2. The 415F2 does not require diesel exhaust fluid (DEF).
All of the models use hydraulic systems that use a load-sensing, variable displacement piston pump that provides full lifting and digging forces at all engine speeds. The system matches hydraulic flow to work demands for fuel efficient operations. Pilot-operated joystick controls with in-cabin pattern changers are standard on the 420F2 and 430F2, and optional on the other two models, which come with mechanical controls. All the models can be fitted with auxiliary hydraulics, including a third-function loader valve, six-function backhoe valve, and related lines. The 420FT and 430FT IT backhoe loaders have a standard hydraulic loader quick coupler. New to the IT models are twist-to-connect hydraulic quick disconnect fittings that can be connected under pressure. All models also feature a redesigned hose routing for extendible sticks.
The new operator’s cabin allows sufficient space for the operator to comfortably rotate the seat. The cabin has been modified to allow flat glass, which maintains excellent visibility. A new rear window design improved trench straight lines. Also new is an additional third step on the left side to allow easy access into the cabin. Sound levels in the cab have been reduced from 80 dB to 74 dB.
