Tigercat releases their new LX830D feller buncher for steep slope operations

A number of improvements have been made to service access, ergonomics and hydraulic efficiency.

The new LX830D feller buncher meets North American Tier 4 emissions requirements.  Tigercat describes the feller buncher as having a tight tuck boom geometry and minimal tail swing, making it suitable for selective felling and clear fell applications. It is powered by a 245 kW (330 hp) Tigercat FPT C87 Tier 4f engine that is housed in a completely redesigned upper enclosure that provides improved right hand side visibility. The upper enclosure is operated from the cab, requiring no strenuous effort from the operator and reducing the safety risk. The swing-out side doors allow for easy access to critical components, daily maintenance points and both sides of the engine. The LX830D has a larger fuel tank capacity (585 litres /  155 US gal) and can be refuelled from ground level.

The new cab has narrower front posts and larger side windows for improved visibility. The skylight has been replaced by a camera system to improve the operator’s field of view. The LX830D now features LED lighting as standard equipment to improve productivity in nightshift operations. The inside of the cab is quieter and the placing of instrumentation has been given much attention. An 18 cm (7 in) colour touchscreen is used for machine monitoring and function adjustment. Tigercat has also provided multiple mounting points for additional electronic devices, which include an auxiliary input port, Bluetooth® audio with hands free calling and two 12 VDC power outlets. The levelling system is effective and robust due to very large cylinders and thick steel and tapered roller bearings. Source: http://www.tigercat.com/tigercat-powered-lx830d-feller-buncher/
