SP's heavy duty 761 LF harvester head takes to the market

Since the prototype 761 LF was presented at Elmia, the head has been in testing across a wide range of conditions.

The 761 LF can be described as a compact head designed for a variety of harvesting conditions, with optimal productivity reached in tree sizes ranging from 25 to 50 cm (10 to 50 in), with a maximum recommended DBH of 55 cm (21.7 in). It weighs 1,680 kg (3,700 lb) and is suited to large wheeled carriers, 20 to 25 ton excavators and a variety of mid-size to large purpose-built tracked harvesters.

The LF line of heads is designed according to the limited friction during feeding principle, which increases head productivity and enhances the fuel efficiency of the carrier. Other features of the head include good routing and protection of hoses, expander pins for long life and reduced maintenance, and computer controlled proportional pressures on the knives and feed rollers, with different settings available for different species to optimise productivity. Optional features include a topping saw and specially designed processor knives for when processing trees from a bunch. Source: www.spmaskiner.com
