Ponsse optimistic about the forest machine market

Current logging machine markets are reflected favourably in all Ponsse’s business areas.

The forest machine market continued its positive development during the second quarter of the year. Ponsse’s order flow totalled EUR 236.3 million for the second quarter, increasing their order books to EUR 355.5 million. Demand for forest machines remained strong in nearly all of Ponsse’s market areas. During the second quarter, all their business areas developed positively. The steady work situation of their customers was reflected by the strong growth of their maintenance services. In addition, demand for trade-in machines has been high, and the rotation of trade-in machine stock has developed in a positive direction.

The availability of parts and components continues to be a challenge due to high demand for machine and equipment manufacturing. Ponsse manufacturing lines were on schedule when the Vieremä factory was closed for the summer holidays in July. Pressures related to increasing the costs of parts and components continue to be high. What makes this challenging for Ponsse is that these increased costs cannot be transferred directly to their customers. This is affected by the far-reaching order books in Ponsse’s production, as the pricing of already agreed machine deals and customers’ challenges in their business operations amidst increasing harvesting costs.

Ponsse’s personnel have worked remotely since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, apart from their production, sales and maintenance service personnel. Ponsse also started this autumn by working remotely to protect their production and maintenance service network. Ponsse indicate that it is vital to keep their personnel healthy and serve their customers at full efficiency. Source
