FPInovations releases a set of videos on wetland roads.
With an eye on environmental sustainability and developing best-practices for high- performance resource-road builders, the Roads and Infrastructure Group of FPInnovations has released four new videos on managing resource-roads across wetlands while respecting their ecological functions.
Planning, constructing and maintaining resource roads across wetlands can be a significant challenge given the soil conditions and complex hydrology often associated with wetlands. To help address the challenge, FPInnovations produced four videos on key aspects of planning, managing surface and subsurface flows, alternative construction materials, and the use of geosynthetics for resource-roads across wetlands. Each of these presentations is about 6 minutes in length and provides information on common techniques, recommended best management practices, and alternative construction products.
FPInnovations indicates that their members asked for information in alternative formats to reports that can be easily shared amongst their staff and contractors. In response, they have begun to produce short videos that focus on a specific aspect of resource-road construction and maintenance. The information contained in these presentations is based on content developed by FPInnovations and Ducks Unlimited Canada. FPInnovations is a leader in developing resources and best practices for equipment operators, construction contractors and field supervisors building high-performance resource-roads. The videos are Planning considerations, Managing surface and shallow subsurface flows, Alternative road construction materials, and Geosynthetics. Source
