New study proves the efficiency and productivity of the Logset hybrid harvester

Researchers compared the Logset 8H GTE Hybrid compared to Logset 8H GTE.

The fuel efficiency of the Logset 8H GTE Hybrid harvester was studied at three final felling sites. A parallel non-hybrid harvester model was also tested at one of the sites. The aim was to study the impact of harvesting conditions and the hybrid system on fuel consumption. The results were also compared with fuel consumption levels observed in previous studies.

The hybrid system increased the productivity of the harvester by 14 to 15 per cent in terms of the average stem size. At the same time, the m3-specific fuel consumption of fuel decreased by 7 to 8 per cent. In terms of productivity level, hybrid system did not improve the fuel efficiency of the harvester.

There are a lot of uncertainties in the comparison between the results of short-term and long-term studies. When corrections were made to the results of the Logset 8H GTE Hybrid harvester to improve comparability, its fuel consumption level was clearly lower than in extensive follow-up studies, and the difference increased towards large-sized stems.
