New Products - New motor graders from Cat

Cat has released the 120M2 and 12M2 motor graders.

These two graders and their all-wheel-drive models, the 120M2 AWD and 12M2 AWD, build on the well established M Series machines. These new models join the existing 140M2, 140 M2 AWD, 160M2 and 160M2 AWD models released in early 2011. These two graders have been designed for various applications, including general blading, road maintenance, snow removal and precise finishing.

The new graders make use of Cat VHP (variable horsepower) Tier 4 engines with ACERT Technology. The VHP assists from the 5th to the 8th forward gear by ensuring additional power is available at higher speeds. VHP limits power in lower gears, which reduces wheel slip when traction is limited. Tier 4 requirements are met by using a NOx reduction system and an exhaust gas after treatment system. The 120M2 and 120M2 AWD use the C7.1 engine, with maximum net power outputs of 141 kW (189 hp) and 156 kW (209 hp) respectively. The 12M2 and 12M2 AWD use the C9.3 engine and have power outputs of 166 kW (223 hp) and 181 kW (243 hp) respectively.

Additional improvements over the previous model include a longer wheel base and electronic joysticks to control the grader. Joystick height can be set according to the comfort of the operator. A sloping rear window assists with visibility. The standard blade width for all models is 3.66 m (12 ft). Machine weights for these two models and their AWD options vary from 18,100 kg (39,892 lb) to 20,100 kg (44,349 lb). Additional information is available from the Caterpillar website at www.cat.com
