New products - New backhoe loaders from JCB

The new backhoes from JCB have up to 16% better fuel consumption than the previous models.

JCB is the world’s top producer of the backhoe (or TLB – tractor/loader/backhoe), with 41% of global market share. Over 450,000 backhoes have been produced to date. The 3CX and 4CX models will start coming off the production line in August. It has a completely new design and attractive aesthetics.

The main fuel savings come from the introduction of a new hydraulic system, called
EcoDig, which uses three hydraulic pumps instead of two. This provides the same hydraulic output but at lower engine speed.

EcoRoad
technology improves fuel savings further by using a TorqueLock system that gives up to 25% improved efficiencies when travelling on an open road, with up to 10% greater speed and 20% working area. A 2wd mode and hydraulic disconnect in top gear provide further fuel savings on the open road. The use of power breaks with full brake pad release, decreases drag to also improve efficiencies.

A further innovation is called
EcoLoad, which has a hydraulic speed control switch, which when combined with high torque at low engine speed, provides more tractive effort, faster cycle times, better pushing power and improved hill climbing performance.

One of the more unusual offerings is an in-cab beverage machine able to make tea, coffee and soup for cold winter days! Many other features and innovations will help maintain this industry leader’s position at the top. Some key figures for the 3CX and 4CX models are included below.

   3CX  4CX
Engine power 63 kW (85 hp) or 68.6 kW (92 hp) 74.2 kW (100 hp)
Backhoe dig depth 4.75 m (15 ft 7 in) 4.67 m (15 ft 4 in)
Max loader capacity 1.0 m3 (1.32 yd2) 1.3 m3 (1.7 yd3)
Operating weight (with 610 mm excavator bucket and full fuel tank) 7,370 kg (16,250 lb) 7,950 kg (17,500 lb)
