The Starsoil is able to crush stones and large woody material.The machine is fitted onto an agricultural tractor that is in the 110 to 184 kW (150 to 250 hp) power range (PTO power). The Starsoil can till soil and gravel roads up to 40 cm (16 in) in depth, crush stones up to 30 cm (12 in) and mulches wood up to 40 cm (16 in) in diameter. It has narrow depth skids that penetrate easily into the soil to reach the maximum working depth. It is designed to resist wear through a replaceable anti-wear chassis and a combination of hammers with tungsten carbide tips and holders, made of hard metal. It is able to operate at speeds of between 0.5 and 2 km (0.3 and 1.2 mi) per hour.
The degree of crushing and mulching can be adjusted using the crushing bar and crushing grid. The Starsoil is available in 175, 200, 225 and 250 cm (5.7, 6.6, 7.4 and 8.2 ft) working widths.
