Mecanil introduces their new energywood felling head

The XG220 head can fell small and larger material due to two different cutting units.

The head has a unique grapple that cuts small and thin trees, and fells larger trees with a saw. The grapple can also be used as a traditional loading grapple. The XG220 is a combination of the Mecanil EG250 energywood felling head and the SG220 saw-grapple. The head can be installed on tractors, forwarders, harvesters and excavators. Three models are available:
 
  • XG220A – with accumulation and cable control
  • XG220A RC – with accumulation and self-powered wireless control
  • XG220 – no accumulation

The head has three choice of grapple claws; the energy grapple claw (with four spikes), claws like a traditional loading grapple, and the A-model claws (claws with diagonal plates). Some of the key specifications of the XG220 and XG220A are included in the table below.
