John Deere has added the option of a heavy-duty undercarriage to their 753J feller buncher.The U7 heavy-duty undercarriage is designed to improve productivity by increasing stability on difficult terrain. This undercarriage is 11 inches (28 cm) longer and 5,000 lb (2,300 kg) heavier than the standard 753J undercarriage. This has created a larger footprint for improved stability for steep terrain. The feller buncher is able to achieve quicker cycle times as it can reach further without having to reposition itself. The feller buncher can also pick up larger loads.
The undercarriage also features larger components to provide increased durability. Service access to the rollers has been improved by means of a new design that places the access points closer to the ends of the undercarriage.
